Loom - Designing an impactful product video in a creative workshop
Context
This project is a fictional exercise, carried out as part of a creative workshop that I organized and led with my team of motion designers at Yalp. The goal was to design, in a single day, a presentation video for the Loom product, under 60 seconds, with the brief to make it as impactful as possible.
This project was carried out as Head of Motion Design at Yalp.
Co-production: Théodore Rault & Karla Sebti.

My role
I initiated and organized this workshop, wrote the script beforehand, then managed the distribution of roles within the team.
On the production side, I contributed to the storyboard and the graphic assets, and took charge of the video’s sound design.

Creating the animation’s sound design

Approach
The main challenge of this exercise was the time constraint: designing a storyboard, producing the graphic assets, and starting the animation in a single day, as a team. To make good use of this short time, we:
- Defined lead roles within the team (art direction, storyboard, etc.), so that everyone drove one dimension of the project without losing time on coordination
- Ran timed idea iterations, a rapid brainstorming format where everyone pitched storyboard ideas within a limited time, before comparing them together
- Converged on a single storyboard, pooling the best ideas from the individual iterations
- Worked on animation and sound design in parallel, to maximize the production time available over the day
Result
The team delivered a conceptual video of under 60 seconds, an exercise that made it possible to test a collaborative working method under heavy time pressure.
