Defants - Making an invisible technology visual
Context
Defants, a French-based start-up specializing in digital forensics and cybersecurity incident response, needed an explainer video to present how its SaaS platform works to professional (B2B) prospects.
The creative challenge was significant: explaining in two minutes a technology that is intangible by nature (data processing, event correlation, digital investigation) through a resolutely visual video that a non-technical audience could understand.
This project was carried out as Head of Motion Design at Yalp. I designed and produced this video, from defining the visual concept to the final delivery of all the versions.

Approach
The main challenge of this project was finding a visual metaphor capable of representing abstract concepts (data flows, anomaly detection, incident reconstruction) without losing clarity or pacing in a two-minute format.
The work focused on:
- The visual translation of the intangible: giving concrete form to notions such as data collection or automated analysis, so that viewers can follow the reasoning without any prior technical knowledge
- A narrative pace that is dense but digestible, to cover the full workings of the solution without overloading the viewer’s attention in a short format
- A complete set of deliverables: the video was produced in French and English, each in three formats (16:9, 9:16, 1:1) to cover every distribution use, from websites to social media
- Three short clips, cut from the main video, each focused on a different sales argument and designed for targeted distribution on social media
A complex technology to make crystal clear?
